Five Years Strong! Looking Back at Trendsetter

We can hardly believe it ourselves, but on May 20th, Publishing Trendsetter celebrated its 5th year. While Jen and I have not been here from the start, I can safely say that we’re very proud of all that Trendsetter has accomplished, and what it will continue to achieve. We want to take a moment to thank all of our past interns and contributors from across the globe. Trendsetter coverage has taken many forms throughout these 5 years, but we believe that it’s all useful to our readers. Today, we look […]

Rise to the Top: Quotable Wisdom from Successful Women in Publishing

One of my favorite panels at Book Expo America this year was put on by the Women’s Media Group called “New Success Tracks for Women, Publishing Careers in a Time of Change.” It hosted 4 female industry heavyweights and asked them questions about rising to the top. Kimberly: Your first time. How does it feel to no longer […]

Much of her work is dedicated to giving writers the tools they need to thrive, be it through best writing practices, personal branding, or bringing transparency to what writers are being paid for their work. Being as skilled as she is at helping writers cash in on their skills, we wanted […]

An Education: Looking at the New CUNY Publishing Institute

While there are a several programs already in existence to aid both publishing hopefuls and industry vets in expanding their horizons, the City University of New York (CUNY) hopes to throw its own hat in the ring with the CUNY Publishing Institute, a week-long program planning its pilot session in June. Helmed by Institute Director and Co-founder of OR Books, John Oakes, this program will aim to educate by combining a varied roster of industry professionals from startups to goliaths like Amazon and Random House to present an important “cross-section […]
